Ecological Shorelines | DESCRIPTION: Ecological shorelines include strategies to enhance shoreline structures, such as stepped slopes, vegetated revetments, vegetated crib walls, textured concrete, natural fiber blankets, gabion baskets, and underwater stairs. These features can integrate with vertical walls and slopes (Seawalls and Levees) at the shoreline, and serve to provide substrate for habitat development. They are often planted or seeded with suitable vegetation, depending on environmental conditions. |
